UN Briefs Diplomatic Corps and Development Partners on 2025 Results and Upcoming Priorities

26 May 2026

Bishkek – 26 May 2026 – The United Nations Country Team in the Kyrgyz Republic today briefed members of the diplomatic corps and development partners on results achieved together with national institutions, civil society, development partners, communities and other stakeholders in 2025, and on priorities for the period ahead under the United Nations Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework (UNSDCF) 2023–2027.

The briefing highlighted how the UN Country Team, comprising 26 agencies, funds and programmes, worked jointly across the four priority areas of the Cooperation Framework, aligned with the National Development Programme 2030: quality social services, green socio-economic development, climate action and disaster risk management, and accountable institutions for peace, cohesion and human rights. A growing share of this work is delivered jointly, including through Peacebuilding Fund projects, Joint SDG Fund programmes, and a partnership on disability inclusion.

Opening the briefing, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in the Kyrgyz Republic, Ms. Antje Grawe, emphasized the importance of partnerships in advancing sustainable development results and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. “The progress achieved in the Kyrgyz Republic reflects the strength of partnerships — with the Government, development partners, international financial institutions, civil society and communities across the country,” she said. “At a time of global uncertainty and shrinking development resources, working together in multilateral frameworks is essential to deliver tangible results for people and to ensure that no one is left behind.”

She further underlined the UN’s commitment to supporting national priorities through integrated approaches that connect social development, economic transformation, climate resilience, peacebuilding and human rights.

Participants also discussed the participatory process towards the next Cooperation Framework, which will be developed through broad consultations with Government counterparts, civil society, development partners, the private sector, youth and other stakeholders, and signed in 2027 to guide the partnership from 2028 onwards.

*** The annual briefing of the diplomatic corps and development partners is a key platform for the United Nations to present development results, share priorities and strengthen partnerships. The UNSDCF is the main instrument guiding the UN’s development work in support of the national development needs and priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals.
