POPULATION SITUATION ANALYSIS IN KYRGYZSTAN: 2020 UPDATE

In the next decade, the Kyrgyz Republic will face a number of serious demographic challenges that will require making strategic decisions in the field of economic and social policy. The problem of rapid population growth remains the most important and acute one. It presents a challenge and prospects for the development of the Kyrgyz Republic.  Policy brief highlights a sizable youth of the population in the country and its impact on socio-economic development, demographic window of opportunity which depends on strategic investment to education and healthy transition of the young population of the Kyrgyz Republic. It equally provides information on reproductive health, maternal and child mortality, high fertility rate and migration process (internal and external), which has direct impact on population dynamics and deformation of population structure.
