MICS Follow-up Survey on Covid-19 impact on children and women in Kyrgyzstan

The last Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) was carried out in Kyrgyzstan in 2018 by the National Statistic Committee (NSC) of Kyrgyz Republic as part of the Global MICS Programme. In the autumn of 2020, the MICS Follow-up Survey, based on a subsample of the MICS-2018 households, had been carried out by NSC to assess Covid-19 impact on children and women in the country. Financial and technical support was provided by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

From the conventional MICS, the follow-up survey inherited its modular questionnaire structure and selected modules, wealth quintiles, data on selection probabilities and weights as well as overall approach and data quality control mechanisms. The research team has adapted a special Covid-19 module developed by the Global MICS Programme and incorporated it into the questionnaire. The data collection process was conducted through structured telephone interviews – the process was assisted with the data entry application.

A series of Statistical Snapshots of the main findings of the survey are consolidated in this publication. A general objective of the publication is to facilitate the timely dissemination and use of results from the survey.
